The EWGA-Canada, York-Simcoe Fairway Friends program is our mentoring program that partners experienced golfers with members newer to the game to support them as they navigate the ins and outs of the game – like etiquette, pace of play and the basic rules of the game – in a fun, supportive and non-competitive environment.
What are the benefits?
There are benefits for both the mentor and mentee. Mentors get a chance to share their knowledge of golf and gain the satisfaction and reward of helping a new golfer get hooked on this game we all love! Mentees gain the opportunity to learn from an experienced golfer on the golf course. They also have a “buddy” to ask questions throughout the golf season.
How does it work?
The Fairway Friends program starts after the Spring kick off and continues throughout the golf season. We match a mentor with a mentee and they will contact each other to arrange a time to chat. They will then arrange a time to golf and start sharing and learning. Mentors and mentees will take it from there to arrange one or more subsequent times to golf according to their schedules. The mentor becomes a golf “buddy” that the mentee can reach out to throughout the season with questions about the EWGA or golf.
