Welcome to Match Play 2017!
EWGA – YS Match Play Guidelines 2017
Welcome and thank you for joining another year of Match Play! We truly hope you enjoy the social aspect this format allows!
Please take note of the following guidelines. If you have any questions, or encounter any situations which need clarification, please contact Anne Jessop at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Match play is run out of Cardinal’s Red Crest.
Match Play Sign Up
There is no additional cost to participate and sign up is online.
The deadline to register is May 30, 2017.
You will need a handicap to play.
The dates for each round to begin and end have been outlined below. Please be respectful of the timelines as we have many participants and want to ensure all rounds are completed to present the winners at our final banquet.
When you have been notified of your playing opponent, please arrange to play your round as soon as possible within the allotted time frame. Once you have agreed upon a date, if you are unable to play on that date and the round cannot be rescheduled, you forfeit that round.
We recognize emergencies arise, and most players will try to reschedule the round if possible. If it is not possible to reschedule, or if advance notice is not provided, the player who cannot play is required to forfeit.
Participants will be responsible for determining the number of strokes on their Scorecards. Please ensure that you know your handicap at the beginning of each round.
Use the following formula to calculate the number of stokes each player receives: (note: use this formula for RedCrest)
Front 9 – ((HF/2) * 127) /113
Back 9 – ((HF/2) * 119) /113
To allocate strokes on the scorecard subtract the lower handicap from the higher, then assign the difference to the higher handicapped player. For example, Player B has 10 stokes is subtracted from Player A’s 14, leaving 4. Player A now takes strokes on the top 4 handicap holes, while Player B plays from scratch.
If you encounter any issues with scorecards or handicaps, please do not hesitate to contact Anne Jessop at email@example.com
Please remember to hand in your card at the end of the round!
It is also important that you are diligent in entering all scores promptly for handicap purposes. For a handicap to be accurate, all games must be entered, whether they are 9 or 18 holes.
The handicap in effect at the start of each round will be used to prepare scorecards, so it is important that they are kept up to date.
Notification of Next Round
All players will receive an email at least 1 week prior to match play starting to advise of your Round 1 match.
Players will receive an email within 24 hours of each completed round to inform them of their next opponent.
All players are guaranteed 2 rounds of Match Play. After that, you continue playing rounds until you lose a round or you win in Round 6, whichever happens first!
